Nail-down

This is the traditional method of installation using nails or staples and requires a wood subfloor. All solid flooring and many engineered floors can be installed this way. The nails or staples are driven at an angle through the tongue and are hidden by the next piece of flooring. This is called “blind nailing.”

JOINTED FLOORING

Inner Core

Generally made from high-density fiberboard (HDF), particle board, or plastic the inner core adds impact resistance and forms the interlocking tongue and groove system. Melamine plastic resins are also impregnated in the core to improve the moisture resistance of the inner core.
